this entry is a must, because i ALWAYS do a shout out to my husband, joel, on his birthday. so...
happy birthday, joel! i love you!!! it's been over 3 years since we've been married and they've seriously been wonderful years because of you! my prayer is that this coming year of your life- our marriage, seminary, serving as youth group pastor, and partnering with other ministries- would be an amazing one.

our kitties wish you a happy birthday too!

as you may know, i have a keen interest in do it yourself projects and a keen interest in environmental sustainability issues. it's actually been quite fun rummaging through craigs list for the perfect chair to reupholster or scouring the entries from the 50+ blogs i read through my google reader to find out more about home decorating projects and living a greener life.
the
bae sisters recently wrote about going green and i'm loving seeing people get more into it (by the way,
brightandbold.com has some of the cheapest prices that i've seen for reusable bags. that's where i got my envirosax bags. and they came literally in 2 days). since i've started working for wash u's olin mba program, i've been actively working with the net impact club to improve the recycling in our schools. it's actually been really fun meeting with matt, our vice chancellor for sustainability, to brainstorm ideas for how we as a school can get better. we've got some great eggs cooking, so check back for future updates.
speaking of eggs...my recent (and completely off the wall) interest is in raising chickens for fresh eggs. haha. it makes me laugh just thinking about it. you can collect your own fresh eggs every day! how cool is that. the best place to purchase a coop & chickens is

i know what you're all thinking, but i dont' care! i want fresh eggs! and the coop is adorable. you watch. some day i'm going to have my own chickens. and someday my half finished projects will get done! until then...happy weekend.
oh and happy shopping for you ladies. this is ann taylor/ann taylor loft's friends & family weekend. just enter 10701101 when you're checking out online. or leave me a comment with your email address & i'll forward you a coupon you can print out.

My aunt raises chicken and their eggs are the best! The yolk are so rich and the consistency is different from store bought eggs...
Something to consider when raising chickens - at some point they get too old and big so you need to think of a way to get rid of them.
By get rid of them I mean kill them.
Happy Friday!
Yay going green! Me too! =) It is driving Hoonie crazy.. he thinks it's too expensive going green and organic. which it is but in the long run it's so worth it! =) haha!
So I read about envirosax.. you like it? Worth it? I ended up getting a $1 bag at whole foods but i think it will rip... hehe... Good to hear from you xanga!
Oh.. and Happy Birthday Joel and Dan!!! (hehe... I meant to write that first but got excited about the reuseable bags.)
thanks for the bday shout out honey. it was a good birthday thanks to you. i'm sure this year will be a good one. i love you.
@msjun - thanks for the comments! i like the envirosax bags because usually you need a bunch of bags when you go grocery shopping & they are all packed together in a little pouch. they're not super strong bags, but cute enough to be worth it :).
@wonny14 - OMG i am SO disturbed by that comment! haha...hope you're having a good weekend though! that's so cool that she raises her own chickens :)
chickens would be so cool! and someday when you have kids they would LOVE them. kaelyn loves any animal that is smaller than her that moves. she goes bonkers when we are walking and she sees a cat or dog.
